The Secret Blog of Patrick Manning argues (correctly) that I know little about Trinidad & Tobago and concludes that higher-priced internet access is the only way to prevent foreign ideas about campaign finance reform from contaminating the country. But, a report from the Trinidad & Tobago Express shows contamination has already occured (and probably not because of anyone reading EF, although that really goes without saying). It begins:
“IF government is committed to campaign finance monitoring then let them bring the legislation to Parliament now,” says Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Persad-Bissessar told the Express on Wednesday that the move by the Government to push for campaign finance monitoring was an election gimmick.
